August Open Days

A fantastic opportunity to come and explore the grounds and the Hall of Chillington at summer time at one of our public open days.

The tour of the Hall gives you a friendly guided tour through the Giffard family home. You will be told all about the history, the family, the wider estate and the amazing stories passed down through the generations since the Giffard family arrived here in 1178.

Our opening times will be 12pm-5pm on Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th & Friday 30th August.

Guided tours of the Hall will start promptly at:

1.00pm

2.00pm

Places on the tours are first come first served, if a tour becomes fully booked, then you will be asked to join the following tour- so we do advise turning up sooner rather than later.

Tour duration is Approx. 1 hour, self guided tours of the Hall are not available.

If you would like to view the gardens and grounds only there is no guided tours or set arrival times but last entry to the grounds will be at 3pm.

Members of the Historic Houses are free entry with a valid members card

You do not need to pre book/reserve a space on a tour on one of the above public open days.

We do not have a purpose built cafe at Chillington Hall but we will be able to offer a limited range of hot and cold drinks with some biscuits/cakes between 12pm-3pm on our open days with our 'pop up' tearoom.

As an extra bonus two local artists Gill Jordan (known for her comedy persona Doreen Tipton) and Derek Powell-Jones will be displaying some of their artwork in the Front Hall for you to enjoy during your visit.
