Chillington Hall opens its doors for 28 days of the year, however if you wish to visit outside these days and have a group of 15 people or more we can arrange a private tour on any day of the year (subject to availability).

Our friendly guides will spend approximately 45 minutes taking you through the various rooms and covering subjects such as the family history, the Hall's architecture, information on the furnishings and artwork as well as answering any specific questions that you may have.

The tours are suitable for disabled visitors or those that have mobility issues. The tour is only conducted on the ground floor and we have a ramped entrance to the side of the Hall. We have numerous seating options throughout the tour so you are encouraged to sit down during your visit if you would be more comfortable doing this.

Group Tour Options

If you are planning a group visit (minimum of 15 people), we can organize private bookings on a day/time to suit you (subject to availability). We have detailed a couple of popular options below, but if you have very specific requirements or interests then please contact us to discuss a tailor made tour.

Tour of Hall & Gardens - £12.00pp

Arrive to Freshly brewed Tea/Coffee and biscuits. Once everyone is ready we will set off with a guide around the Hall. Tours take approximately 45-60 minutes. You will be lead by a tour guide, dependent on group size they may be split down into smaller parties, we normally like to have around 20 people per guide to ensure everyone can see/hear, get a chance to ask any questions etc. Once the tour has ended you can explore the gardens around the Hall at your leisure.

Tour of Hall & Gardens with Tractor ride to the Lake - £15.00pp

The tour would be as stated above with the addition of a ride on our trailer which is covered and seats 24 passengers. This ride would take in the Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown designed Park & Woodlands and down to the Lake in the grounds which is 3/4 of a mile away from the Hall. You will get off the trailer to see the beautiful James Paine bridge which was designed to hide the dam and also to see one of the follies located around the Lake. The tractor ride tour is 75 minutes long.

Additional Details for group tours...

We can add extra refreshments onto our private tours, please see the link (below) for some suggested menus & prices, but we are also open to creating a special menu to suit requirements. If we are providing catering for the group we do ask that we cater for the full numbers coming for the tour.

If you wish to have the tractor ride, but have more than 24 people attending then we will split the group into 2 parts. One group will do the Hall tour first, the others will do the tractor ride. They will then swap over and meet back at the Hall for refreshments/departure.
